Hi, my name is Ankush. You're either here to know more about me or trying to reset my password — either way, I'll help you out.
I was born in Surat, Gujarat ('96), but I've practically lived my entire life in Mumbai. I speak fluent English, Gujarati, Hindi and just enough Marathi. I studied Mechanical Engineering ('16), worked as a mechanical engineer for 5 years before switching to Software Engineering ('21). Why? I preferred not just barely breaking even with my finances.
I am mostly self-taught but I do have an online Bachelors degree from University of London ('22) and I am also pursuing Master's in CS from Georgia Tech at a glacial pace. I believe in both depth and breadth. I am equally interested in understanding business problems, how they translate to code, how that code runs on hardware, and how humans have made rocks crunch numbers.
So far, my life's best work has been at Frappe, where I've grown from a novice programmer debugging software issues to leading engineering teams while debugging organisation issues. It is one of the coolest companies to exist, with a unique work culture that you'll rarely find elsewhere. Sure, the "project" is important, but only because the project gets us to the people and it's the people who got me to where I am. If you want to know more about my career journey, I've written a long blog post about it.
Beyond work, I love watching TV/Movies and listening to music. Halt and Catch Fire is my recent favourite show, and I've been trying to get everyone to watch it. I love sci-fi, drama, history, politics and philosophy. Someone got me hooked on progressive rock, and I've not looked back ever since. Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree are the two greatest bands to ever exist. I do listen to other genres, including metal, prog-metal, classic rock, fusion, grunge, folk, country, etc etc.
